FOUND & LOST 23X24
$100This 23 × 24-inch mixed-media assemblage by Alan T transforms authentic ephemera gathered from the lost and found at Club Space into a textured time capsule of Miami nightlife.
Visual Overview & Composition
The square panel serves as a dimensional relief canvas where three-dimensional objects, stencils, and textured forms collide under layers of aerosol and acrylic paint. The color palette relies heavily on raw club tones—magenta, toxic green, citrus yellow, burnt umber, and slate gray—applied through gestural brushstrokes and overspray gradients. The outer border features framed cutaways and diagonal corner tabs that anchor the energetic, chaotic arrangement within the square frame.
Embedded Artifacts & Texture
- Nightlife Artifacts: Recognizable fragments of dance floor essentials are embedded across the surface, including a pair of tinted rave glasses near the center, small dropper and dropper-cap bottles, a threaded fixture socket, a spray can or flask canister, and circular disc hardware reminiscent of sound or lighting gear.
- Organic Relief & Draped Forms: In the lower left quadrant sits a heavily textured, organic mound that resembles folded or melted drapery, coated in dark charcoal, mossy green, and gold washes. Opposite it on the right rests a sculpted, ribbed hand-like formation in metallic crimson and bronze, creating a tactile push-and-pull across the lower third.
- Industrial Stenciling & Layering: Flanking opposite corners are cutout templates and architectural stencil shapes with gear-like cog details, echoing Club Space’s industrial aesthetic. These plates cast physical shadows across the background, while negative-space paint splatters emphasize depth and wear.
- Surface Patina: The piece is finished with a distressed, oxidized patina. Weathered metallics, dry-brushed highlights, and scuffed edges give the collected items the authentic grit of objects left behind in the heat, bass, and haze of marathon terrace sessions.
The resulting work functions both as sculptural pop art and a tangible archival relic, translating transient dance floor memories into permanent, layered urban archaeology.
